The one snack you can rely on at any given time of the day, would be the sandwich, hands down! The typical Mumbai Style sandwich made of white slice bread, heaps of Amul butter, fiery green chutney, and crunchy fresh veggies mashed in the middle; is available at almost every gully and nukkad of the city. We decided to venture out further to find some of the best and eclectic sandwiches the streets of Mumbai has to offer. We dedicate this post to all our trusted Sandwichwallas who have served this city since time unknown.
Here are our tried and tested favourites:
1. Chicken Sandwich at Crown Bakery (Rs.25): It is a mayo sandwich with well minced chicken and finely chopped carrots, capsicum and lettuce. The chicken is soft and the overall mild sweetness of the sandwich makes it a perfect on the go snack.

2. Sev Puri Cheese Toast at Sadguru Sandwich Centre (Rs.60): As weird as it sounds it’s a hit with the patrons. The sandwich is stuffed with actual Sev Puri and toasted with heaps of cheese. Though it does taste a lot like a sev puri, the essence of the sandwich remains intact. One should undeniably try it for its quirkiness.

3. Masala Toast Sandwich at Evening Spot (Rs.30): The USP of this sandwich is the stuffing. The masala is a mixture of mashed potatoes, capsicum, green peas and some “secret” spice which is similar to garam masala, but the owners refuse to divulge the details. It is comfortably spicy and truly satisfying if you are craving something masaaledaar. One has to try it to understand its uniqueness.

4. Noodles Mayonnaise Schezwan Grill at Just Taste (Rs.135): However unusual the name and combination, we suggest you order this if you are in Dadar. Make sure you are very hungry to do justice to the big portion. The sandwich is layered with soft noodles, mayonnaise, a dash of schezwan sauce and diced and sliced vegetables. The sauces stand out, giving a it sweet and tangy taste.
